Walking/Running a 5k has been on my bucket list for a few years now, and I finally can mark it off! Our community does the Woodstock 5k every August. I had heard about it a lot in the last couple of years, but just never had the guts to do it. It is completely out of my comfort zone! But this year my sister decided to do it, and I wanted to be right there with her.
Over 1300 people were participating! It was so awesome to feel the community coming together for something like this. All proceeds went to support the United Cerebral Palsy, so it felt great knowing that we had a lot of fun and helped people at the same time!

I didn't win, but I am so proud of this accomplishment! I felt amazing afterwards. The Anniston High School football team was right there with us, constantly pushing us to do our best, offering big smiles and high fives to keep us moving. People in the neighborhood sat on their porches to wave and cheer, and many families had their sprinklers on the road so we would get wet as we passed by. It was just an amazing feeling of community, which I had never experienced before. I definitely plan to participate again next year, and beat my time!
I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!

I LOVE 5Ks! That's awesome that you did one! I used to do them with my family, but haven't done one in forever. Just signed up for a Mud Run 5K in October, and could not be more excited!

I am very thankful for community events. If the world would just come together more often, it'd be a much better place! :) Thank you so much!
