Seeing how it's Frankly Friday and all, I'm gonna get a little frank.
Since most of you have never met me in "real life", I'm going to tell you who I am, honestly.
First and foremost, I am a Christian. That doesn't mean I'm going to shove my beliefs down your throat. It means I believe in God and in Jesus. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice so that we could have a relationship with God. If we believe in Christ, what He did for us, and profess our sins, we don't have to go through anyone to talk with God. He is with us at all times. I believe that He is always listening and always watching.
I believe that if you profess to be a follower of Christ, you should act like a follower of Christ. This means watching what you do and say. I am as guilty as anyone when it comes to mindless gossip. It's so easy to point out the faults in other people! But it's wrong. If you have to make sure someone isn't listening to what you say, you better just not say it at all. Being a Christian alienates you at times, trust me...I know. But the pain in being left out or made fun of is only a ridiculously small fraction of what Christ went through for us, so it's basically nothing! Keep that in mind next time someone says something hurtful to you about your faith.
Secondly, I am a ginormous nerd. I LOVE Harry Potter. I love Merlin. I am obsessed with period pieces, whether it's Downton Abbey or Pride & Prejudice. I would rather watch a classic movie starring Gene Kelly than anything with Channing Tatum in it. TRUE story!
I am trying to get healthy. It's not easy! I'm trying to lift weights and do some leg exercises at home every day, throw in some cardio at the gym or walk/running at the park. Not to mention eating habits! I have been drinking 9-11 glasses of water a day which is a STEEP improvement from where I was a month ago. I love soda...it's hard to let it go. Any ideas for healthy foods or exciting new workouts?!
I plan my wedding even though I'm single and have no prospects at the moment. Hahah, that's an embarrassing thing to admit! Does anyone else do this? I'm pretty sure it's a common thing for girls to do. I've been thinking about it since I was like 13.
I love traveling. It is such an exhilarating feeling to go somewhere new. I wish it wasn't so expensive! I would be going somewhere every weekend if it didn't cost an arm and a leg. My favorite place I've been is Asheville, NC. I want to visit every state in America and also Paris, London, Ireland, and Switzerland.
I am, at times, a horrible friend. I am a person that thrives on alone time. I like people, sometimes, but I need time alone too. I am not one of those people that needs to see someone every day! I'm good hanging out once a month, I say this exaggerating but it's really not a HUGE exaggeration And my sister takes a lot of my time. We are best friends and we do a lot of things together. If there is anything I wanna do or anywhere I wanna go, I'm gonna ask her first.
I hope that these few truths about my life makes us better acquainted! :)
8 lovely notes:
"If you have to make sure someone isn't listening to what you say, you better just not say it at all." <-- Well said.
Sadly, a lot of judgemental and downright mean Christians have caused the rest of us to have to be on the defensive. "I'm Christian but..." is almost a natural reaction when talking about ourselves, as if we need to apologize right away.
I love this post...definitely got to know you a little more! :)
I love being nerdy, planning my wedding (even though i'm single too! ha), i can be a horrible friend, and i'm attempting to be healthy! :)
Twins!
Stopping by from Frankly Friday. Love your post and your honesty! I can totally relate to wanting and needing alone time. Sometimes I *not so* sarcastically say to my husband I'm not sure why I ever got married because I could live as a hermit. Well...sort of. I would need to come out every now and then but then I could go back to being all alone. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know how long you've had the new layout, but it's gorgeous! Whoa, that's a lot of water. Way to go!
Jess, are we twin??
we sound a like alot!
okay, i'm not a christian but i do believe in god. Channing Tatum never gets me. i'm more into guy like Jason Statham kind of way. haha and i'd definitely date Michael Corleone (you know, young Al Pacino).
the only point miss between us is that i have never thought about my wedding. hahaha. that's thoughtful that you plan ahead ;)
I used to plan my wedding. I had to force myself to stop looking at TheKnot.com hahaha
I love this!! We are so alike. I am obsessed with old movies, too. I haven't started Downton Abbey yet but I think it's right up my alley :)
